Apple's upcoming 9.7-inch iPad Pro will have one major difference from its 12.9-inch counterpart.
According to 9To5Mac, sources who have access to internal prototypes of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro claims that the device will come with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera.
The 12-megapixel camera's sensor is said to be similar to the ones found in the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
To put things into perspective, the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro only comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
Since this upcoming version of the iPad Pro is a lot smaller than the 12.9-inche one, this one seems like a more ideal tablet for photography and videography.
As an added kicker, this latest rumor also claims that the smaller iPad Pro may even be capable of 4K video recording.
Perhaps Apple is looking to promote taking photos and videos with the device, and this could be one of its major selling points when it launches.
In comparison, cameras on tablets haven't been on par with the ones found on smartphones. Maybe with this upcoming release, Apple is looking to set itself apart by including a high performance camera on a 9.7-inch device.
Slash Gear speculates that another reason why Apple decided to put a 12-megapixel shooter in the upcoming tablet is because camera manufacturing for the iPhone 6s may have slowed down enough leaving it free for it.
As of now, it is believed that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will function very similarly to the 12.9-inch version. This means that it will come with the same Smart Connector, making it compatible to a new and smaller version of the Smart Keyboard.
There's also the possibility that a new version of the Apple Pencil will be released alongside it, but it would most likely be just in a different color option and not with new functionalities.
It has also been previously reported that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will have an A9X processor and an improved display with better brightness and anti-glare features.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will reportedly be unveiled during Apple's upcoming March 21 event, alongside the new 4-inch iPhone SE.
